Artist Statement
Through reflection on global interconnection and cultural hybridity. Inspired by conflicting emotions and identity as a Korean immigrant to Canada, Kate Bang paints details navigating social conformity from a minority perspective. Kate’s paintings echo the world of limbo which immigrants often find themselves in. Through painting, Kate symbolizes her own personal struggles with a goal of illuminating relatable emotions in others. By embracing chaos, Kate finds belonging.
